On a Saturday afternoon in October, the Morris County Historical Society leads a free walking tour through Chester’s historic village, and the itinerary is genuinely, wait, we promised not to say that word. You’ll visit the home of an iron mine owner, the oldest Congregational Church west of the Hudson River, Chester Cemetery, and what the listing calls “one of the poshest hotels on the stagecoach route from Easton, PA to Elizabeth, NJ.” Tours run rain or shine, but space caps at 15 people, so pre-registration is required.
