On a crisp November Thursday, Macculloch Hall Historical Museum’s staff leads a one-hour, nearly one-mile stroll through Morristown’s Historic District, unpacking the exterior architectural flourishes of 19th-century homes: the building materials, the construction techniques, and the surprisingly pivotal role the Marquis de Lafayette played in historic preservation when he swung back through the U.S. in 1824 and 1825. The route runs over uneven sidewalks, so wear real walking shoes, not those optimistic flats you keep lying to yourself about. Light rain won’t cancel it, but severe weather might. Pre-registration is required: $15 for the general public, free for members, and admission to MHHM is included. Questions about accessibility go to info@maccullochhall.org.
