Macculloch Hall’s F.M. Kirby Curator of Collections Ryan Hyman leads this behind-the-scenes tour of the museum’s newest exhibition, Thomas Nast’s American Hero: Ulysses S. Grant, on Sunday, November 8, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. The show explores Grant’s Civil War career and presidency through historic artifacts and Nast’s political cartoons, spread across the Nast Gallery and Schoolroom Gallery. What makes this tour worth the trip is Hyman pulling back the curtain on the curatorial decisions, the objects, and the stories that shaped the finished exhibition. It’s the kind of context you won’t pick up from a solo walkthrough. Free for MHHM members; $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $5 per child for everyone else (museum admission included).
